Symbols On The Baptistry Ceiling
| The Dove, Symbol of the Holy Spirit |

| Baptism is our birth into everlasting life, and, as we
say in the Credo at Sunday Mass, "I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord
and Giver of Life." Also it is at the moment of Baptism that the
Holy Spirit begins to dwell in our souls. "Do you not know that you
are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in you?" --I Cor. III,
16. The Dove also recalls the scene of Christ's Baptism when John
the Baptist saw the Spirit of God descending in the form of a dove upon
Jesus. |
