October 9th ….Columbus Day No School

October 10th….Isle a la Cache Field trip

October 12th…All School 9 am Mass………October poem to be recited

Religion:  Students will be learning and praying  the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.

Language:   Students will continue to classify simple sentences with a subject noun, verb, and now with adverbs.          They will also work on their interactive grammar notebook.  The October poem will be recited  on Thursday, October 12th.

Phonics:  We will be finishing Unit 2 focusing on long vowels.  The test will probably be next Tuesday.

Reading:  Students  will soon be finished reading and analyzing The Case of the Gasping Garbage.  Some skills that      we have focused on include, motivation,  sequence, comparing and contrasting themes, and citing  evidence from the text.

Math:   We are continuing to learn about graphing data. Students will read, make, and then solve problems using        bar graphs.   There will be a Simple Solutions quiz on Friday.

Science: In class we have a worm composting bin. Students are taking turns feeding and observing them.  Hopefully    by spring we will have great compost.  In science we are also learning how graphs are useful in recording and reading data. The unit 1 science test probably will be next Thursday.

Social Studies:  Students will experience what our area was like back in the 1750’s  during our field trip on Tuesday.    They will  make a flip book to record what they learned and  then have a test about the field trip on Friday, October 13th.

Second Step:   Students will understand that a person can have more than one emotion at a time and sometimes they  are conflicting emotions. Students will role play  how this can occur in different situations.
