New Year Music News

Coming up…

Into the Woods Jr.

Show dates: March 22nd and 23rd, 2017

Auditions for the show are happening this week! Keep your eyes out for a rehearsal schedule that will be sent out after the casting is finalized.

This show is not possible without YOU!

We are currently looking to recruit parent volunteers for the many facets that are required to make this show possible. Any individuals who would like to assist with costumes, rehearsal supervision, make-up, props, publicity, ticket sales, scenery, and set up and tear down would be greatly appreciated. It would also be immensely helpful if parents volunteer to be coordinators for each of these areas. If you are available and interested, please contact me at

Looking forward to working together towards a wonderful production!

Music News!

Hello there! Here are some of the highlights of what has been happening in Music so far:

Prek – Fourth Grade

The preschool and kindergarten students have been exploring their singing voices as well participating in musical movement activities that allow them to practice keeping a steady beat. Both the first and second grades have been practicing reading rhythms and applying them to songs and games! In third grade, we are wrapping up a unit on reading the notes on the treble clef staff while the fourth graders did a fantastic job learning about the Star Spangled Banner and its history and significance as our National Anthem. The fourth grade students are excited to be learning about the instrument families of the orchestra next!

Fifth Grade

The musical is fast approaching! All of the fifth graders are busy learning their parts for “The Emperor’s New Clothes” which will be performed on October 27. All students should be memorizing their singing and/or speaking parts. They each have a paper copy of their part and a CD that has their songs on it. We have a fun-filled month of hard work ahead!

Junior High

All of the junior high classes have been engaged in lessons that cover the elements of music. They have been reviewing reading/notating music, rhythm, melody & harmony, expression, and other musical concepts that are important for a firm foundation in the subject.

It has definitely been a wonderful start to the school year! 🙂
