Athletic Association
About Us
The St Cletus Athletic Association is a volunteer organization responsible for administering, organizing and fund-raising that helps provide athletic programs for St. Cletus School children. These inter-scholastic programs include boys and girls basketball, girls volleyball, boys football, cheerleading, track and field and cross-country for grades 5-8 and intramural soccer for grades K-4.
There is a no-cut policy at St. Cletus and in the Suburban Parochial League, any child wishing to participate in a sport will be guaranteed that opportunity. Our sports programs help to round out the entire educational experience and strive to uphold St. Cletus’ Mission of educating children in mind, body and spirit.
Our organization relies totally on volunteers. Experience in not needed for this equal-opportunity association, just a desire to help put a mark on the children’s experience. We are looking for parents from all grade levels to help in several areas including: coaching, grade reps, and fund-raising volunteers. We need and are looking for fresh ideas and encourage any and all to join us at our games or meetings. It is a great way to become involved and meet other families while watching your children participate.
The Athletic Association is responsible for a yearly budget which allows for financing of team and cheerleading uniforms, all equipment, league and tournament fees, officials and our Athletic Director’s salary. Some of these obligations are partially met through the Athletic fee paid on Book Day. The Spirit fee is NOT given to the Athletic Association. It is applied directly to the school budget. Some schools operate under a pay-for-play system where a fee is collected for each child for each sport he/she wishes to participate in. Our philosophy is to charge each family a smaller amount and spread the costs to all students. Our fundraisers have recently been successful enough to meet our obligations. Our major fundraisers are the Dance/Silent auction in March and golf outing in the summer. Other fundraisers include our “Cardinal Pursuit” trivia night in October and our magazine drive which is ongoing (proceeds get applied directly to school needs). All are designed for maximum fun. We ask that you participate in these to help us achieve our budget requirements.
We meet the first Monday of each month so come join us for some fun and games.
