CEP Youth Leadership, Inc. is a non-profit organization that designs and
implements education, prevention, and development programs for a group
of diverse youth to promote leadership skills, foster positive
relationships, and provide opportunities to engage in community service
resulting in life-long civic responsibility and a unified community. CEP
Youth Leadership programs include: Juinor High Leadership, High School
Leadership, Girl’s Group (High School), Tutoring, Mentoring, Watch My
Feet (performance group), and the Hangout (an after school program in
Brookfield).
The Junior High Leadership Program starts off with Junior High Leadership Conference, hosted at St. Cletus in 2009, provides an opportunity for 8th graders from 13 local junior highs to learn about the power of goal setting and teamwork, and the resources available in our community. Students then learn to plan, implement, and evaluate the results of school and neighborhood volunteer service projects throughout the West Suburban area over the course of the school year. In addition, students are invited to Reunite Nights that provide a way for students to stay in touch with each other in a fun environment.
In the 2008-2009 school year the 8th grade members of CEPYL from St. Cletus completed two service projects. First the group fundraised for a local soup kitchen in LaGrange by hosting a dress down day at the school. The students raised enough funds to help pay a full course meal served at the soup kitchen and enough money to help re-stock their freezer with food as well. The second service project was selling “go green” shirts for earth day to encourage their peers to recycle. The participants decided to donate the funds raised from the “go green” project to go back into their school at St. Cletus to help with beautification of the school property.
