Children's Choir
August 28, 2007
Dear Parents, Students, and Friends,
Happy Fall! Mr. Justin Sisul, our parish music director, and I are pleased to
offer Children's Choir to all parish students (St. Cletus School and St. Cletus
Religious Education students) from grades 3-8. The Junior Choir (grades 3-5)
will practice on Thursdays from 5:00-5:45pm and the Senior Choir (grades 6-8)
will practice on Wednesdays from 4:00-4:45pm in the school music room (Please
enter at the 7th/8th grade school doors nearest the music room).
Practices begin on September 19th/20th. Students in 5th grade are allowed to
come to either practice based on their availability. If you still have conflicts
and would like to participate, please contact me and we'll find a solution that
will work for everyone.
Students in Children's Choir have opportunities to learn traditional and
contemporary church music, to experience quality vocal instruction through
singing and Dalcroze movement, and to be featured in cantor (solo), small group,
and instrumental roles during masses. Instrumentalists from grades 5-8 are
greatly encouraged to participate in choir through singing and playing their
selected piece/s.
Our director Mrs. Gibbons is trained in Orff and Dalcroze techniques while
coming from a strong vocal background. Our parish music director Mr. Justin
Sisul will be coming to various rehearsals to work with Children’s Choir. Mr.
Sisul teaches choir at the junior high level, aides during local choral
festivals, and directs the Contemporary and Chancel Choirs.
Included is a permission slip for participation in children's choir. Please fill
it out and bring it to your first rehearsal or return to the school office to
Mrs. Gibbons’ mailbox. Permission slips can also be found online on our parish
website. We have a great group in choir and we hope to continue our
wonderful tradition at St. Cletus Parish.
Musically Yours,
Mrs. Regina Gibbons
