God’s Children of the World...Light the Way
Our school theme is the backbone of our school year. As we implement some of our new programs this year — peaceful playground, peer mediation, positive coaching alliance and second step program — we continue to focus on various areas each month as our school students light the way for all of us. Last month we focused on caring and sharing. This month we are focusing on sportsmanship. I found this wonderful article on sportsmanship in the Today’s Catholic Teacher magazine that I am sharing with you. It is geared towards high school, however has some excellent points that can apply to elementary school for parents, students, teachers, coaches and spectators. Please see the attached. I continue to look ahead to another successful year for all of our students.

School Pictures
School pictures go home today. If your child is eligible for a retake or was absent when pictures were taken in September, please notify the school office. We want to be sure to accommodate those in need on Nov. 2nd (scheduled retake day).

Halloween
Don’t forget to dress up for Halloween. Please follow the guidelines that were sent home last week. Happy Halloween to all!

Parent Conferences
Scheduled conference times will be sent home in next week’s Wednesday envelope. We did our best to accommodate your first or second choice. Please do not ask to switch times unless it is an emergency. If you absolutely must switch your time, please contact the school office not the teacher.

Recycling
St. Cletus School is sponsoring a paper recycling program. I am sure you noticed the yellow and green bins located at the Southeast end of the parking lot. St. Cletus School receives money for the recycled paper. Feel free to drop off your paper recycling to the St. Cletus bins.

See your October calendar for further information.
