Food Pantry

Each month we provide non-perishable food items and some personal items to 65-85 registered families, to help supplement their needs and ease their worries. We depend on the generous food and monetary donations of our parishioners, and the dedicated service of a staff of volunteers, to keep the Pantry up and running. Donations are gratefully accepted at Weekend Liturgies, especially on the first Sunday of the month.

Food Pantry Quick Facts

  • The St. Cletus Food Pantry distributes groceries from the vestibule of the Church on the second Thursday of the month from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.
  • During the months of July & August, we have a special "share the wealth" distribution of garden produce along with our regular food distribution.
  • We distribute a bag of groceries to approximately 100 families of the working poor each month.
  • The Food Pantry shelves are stocked primarily by generous donations (both of non-perishables and monetary contributions) made by St. Cletus Parishioners.
  • Donations of groceries are accepted at weekend Liturgies, especially on the first weekend of each month.  Contributions should be placed in the usher's room at that time.  Suggested items include our staples:  dry pinto beans and rice; peanut butter and jelly; pasta and pasta sauce; canned fruit and vegetables; meals in a can; macaroni & cheese; tuna; cereal; juice and all sizes of diapers.
  • St. Cletus Food Pantry receives donations from other groups, including the First United Methodist Church of Western Springs and local community and school organizations.
  • We are recipients of non-perishables from the La Grange Post Office's Mother's Day weekend food drive.
  • St. Cletus Food Pantry is among the local community food pantries which receive a generous check from the proceeds of the annual La Grange / Western Springs Crop Walk against hunger, sponsored by Church World Service.
