Church League Basketball Rules
1. All teams must submit a Team roster. Rosters must be
signed by your pastor stating all players are either members of your church or
active in your Youth Group.
- Players must be high school and not playing basketball for his high school
anytime during the 2004-2005 basketball season. (No teams are allowed to
add high school players who left a high school team after the season started or
after the high school season is complete.)
- Each team is allowed only one non-member of the Church
- Teams who have exhausted their church and youth group population may have
members from other churches play as long as their church does not have an
existing team in the league.
2. Each team must have an adult coach present each time the team plays a
game. This adult is someone 21 years of age or older. If an adult
coach is not present, the game will be called a forfeit by a referee. **
Please make arrangements in advance if a coach is unavailable because we do not
want to pull a dad from the stands to make him "coach" if he does not know the
team.
3. Each team will be required to be in the gym twenty minutes before their
scheduled game time. Teams will have a five minute warm-up before starting
games.
4. Each team must have five members from the roster on the floor ready to
play by game time, or the game will be called a forfeit.
GAME RULES
1. There will be two, twenty minute running halves. The clock will
only stop for time outs during the first half and the first 18 minutes of the
second half. During the last two minutes of the game, the clock will stop
on the whistle except if one team is up by 15 points. If a team is up by
15 points, the clock will continue to run.
There will be 5 minutes between halves.
There will be 3 FULL time outs per game.
There will be 2 TWENTY SECOND time outs per game.
2. All players must have legible number on at least the back of the
shirts. All players must wear the same color and style shirt.
3. During the regular season, ALL players present for any given game will
receive equal playing time during that game. The league is meant to give
EVERY PLAYER a chance to play.
4. No "press" if a team is up by 20 minutes in the last five minutes.
5. Players will use three and ten second rules. The ball must be
brought over the center line in ten seconds. Incoming players must report
to the timer and wait for a dead ball before entering the game.
6. The ball will only be jumped at the beginning of each game.
7. Possession will be alternated at the halves.
8. Bonus shots will be permitted after seven team fouls. Double

hits the rim.
11. OVERTIME RULE: first overtime is 3 minutes. Second
overtime is sudden death (first point scored wins).
12. Players who receive five fouls will be out of the game. If a
player receives two technical fouls in one game, he will be asked to leave the
gym of the current game, ceasing play, and will not be allowed in that gym as a
spectator or to play the next game on the schedule.
13. Aggressive physical contact can lead to expulsion from the league for
the entire year.
