Lifelong Faith Formation Leadership Opportunities

Lifelong faith formation at St. Cletus Parish is not carried out by one person alone or just by the faith formation staff—it is a shared mission. Our lifelong faith formation ministries are guided by collaborative leadership teams made up of parents, youth, and adult parishioners who help shape programs, offer feedback, and support the spiritual growth of our entire parish community.

These teams serve as co-builders of faith formation, helping ensure that our ministries remain responsive to the needs of families, young people, and adults seeking to grow in their relationship with Christ. Through prayer, conversation, and shared leadership, these groups help guide our parish in forming disciples at every stage of life.

JOIN A LEADERSHIP TEAM

A Community of Co-Builders

  • The Parent Advisory Team provides insight and support for the parish’s children and family ministry programs. Parents serve as important partners in the faith formation of their children, and this team helps ensure that our programs remain rooted in the lived experiences and needs of families.

Members of this team meet periodically to provide feedback on programs, share ideas for strengthening family engagement in the life of the parish, and assist with events and initiatives that support parents as the primary educators of their children in the faith.

The Parent Advisory Team helps foster a strong partnership between families and the parish so that faith can be nurtured both at home and in the parish community.

  • The Youth Council is a leadership body made up of high school youth who serve as leaders and representatives. Members help shape youth ministry programming, provide peer leadership, and assist with events, retreats, and service opportunities.

Youth Council members grow as disciples and leaders through formation, mentorship, and opportunities to share their voices in the life of the parish. They help ensure that youth ministry remains meaningful, engaging, and responsive to the realities young people face today.

Through their leadership, Youth Council members model active faith, service, and community for their peers.

  • The Young Adult Council helps guide and support ministry for young adults in their 20s and 30s. This group serves as a leadership and advisory team that helps discern the needs of young adults in the parish and shape opportunities for faith, community, and service.

Members collaborate to plan gatherings, prayer experiences, service opportunities, and faith formation events that foster authentic community and spiritual growth. The council also helps ensure that young adults feel welcomed, heard, and connected within the broader parish community.

Through shared leadership and accompaniment, the Young Adult Council works to create spaces where young adults can explore their faith, deepen relationships, and discern their call to live the Gospel in their daily lives.

  • The Adult Faith Formation Team supports the planning and development of opportunities for adults to deepen their faith and grow in discipleship. Members help discern topics, recommend speakers and resources, and assist in coordinating programs that invite adults into ongoing learning and spiritual growth.

This team works to create a variety of formation opportunities—from scripture studies and small faith groups to seasonal reflections, guest speakers, and parish missions—so that adults at every stage of life can continue their journey of faith.

By sharing their gifts and perspectives, members of the Adult Faith Formation Team help cultivate a culture of lifelong learning and spiritual renewal within the parish.

DISCERN BECOMING A CATECHETICAL LEADER

Accompanying Others in Faith

Our faith formation ministries are made possible through the generous service of volunteer catechetical leaders who share their faith, gifts, and time with others. These leaders accompany children, youth, and adults as they grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith.

Volunteer leaders receive formation, resources, and ongoing support from the parish and are invited to serve as mentors, witnesses of faith, and guides for those on the journey of discipleship.

  • Catechists serve as faith mentors for children and young people, helping them learn about Scripture, Catholic tradition, prayer, and the life of the Church. Through teaching, discussion, and witness, catechists help young people grow in their understanding of God’s love and their place within the Church community.

Catechists work collaboratively with the Lifelong Faith Formation Team and other volunteers to create welcoming, engaging, and faith-filled learning environments.

Catechists work in the Faith Formation program, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and in Baptism preparation.

  • Youth Ministers help accompany middle school and high school youth as they explore their faith, build community, and develop as disciples of Jesus. Volunteer youth ministers assist with gatherings, retreats, service opportunities, and small group conversations that help young people connect their faith with their everyday lives.

Youth Ministers serve as mentors and role models who support youth in discovering their gifts and living out the Gospel. Youth Ministers work in Confirmation preparation and youth ministry programming.

  • OCI Journeyers accompany children, teens, and adults who are exploring the Catholic faith through the Order of Christian Initiation (OCI). These volunteers walk alongside participants through prayer, discussion, and reflection as they learn about the teachings and life of the Church.

Journeyers serve as companions on the path of faith, helping create a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals can ask questions, share their experiences, and encounter Christ within the parish community.
